Washington High School has hired a new baseball coach, and it's a well-known name in former Major League Baseball pitcher Nick Blackburn, The Oklahoman has confirmed through the school.
Blackburn, 32, replaces David Vallerand, who resigned earlier this spring to move to an administrative position at Okarche.
Blackburn starred at Del City and Seminole State College before being drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 29th round of the 2001 draft.
During his six years in the majors, Blackburn went 43-55 with a 4.85 ERA with the Twins. He was granted his free agency in November.
Blackburn will also be an assistant softball coach for the Warriors.
