A free fishing clinic hosted by the Parks and Recreation Department and the Department of Wildlife Conservation will take place on Jan. 11 at the Putnam City High School gymnasium.

The free instructional clinic will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registration is required by calling 755-4014.

Sooner Lake temporarily closed

Sooner Lake will be closed to boating, walk-in hunting and fishing until Jan. 3, according to state wildlife officials.

There have been some shaking issues with new transmission lines that were recently installed across a portion of the lake.

The lake will be off-limits to avoid risk to hunters and anglers until repairs can be made.

Hard Rock teams with B.A.S.S.

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa has signed on as presenting sponsor of the 2013 Bassmaster Classic on Grand Lake, it was announced last week.

The sponsorship will support both the B.A.S.S. organization and the Tulsa Sports Commission in execution of the three-day competition that is predicted to bring roughly 100,000 people and $26 million to the region.

The Bassmaster Classic is scheduled for Feb. 22-24. Fifty-three professional anglers will be competing for $1.2 millin purse.
