by Erik Horne Published: June 16, 2014

Clint Dempsey scored 30 seconds into the U.S.'s encounter with Ghana.

About 30 minutes later, he had a bloody nose from a kick to the face. Dempsey went up for a header against Ghana's John Boye, and Boye inadvertently caught him with a shin on some karate-kick levels.

The U.S. took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but the boys are banged up. Dempsey stayed in the game after taking the shot, but starting forward Jozy Altidore had to exit with a first-half hamstring injury.
