Frontier City is adding a $1.3 million interactive water play attraction this spring, the first major addition under its new management.
Wild West Water Works is set to open in May, about one month after the park itself opens April 15.
The new water attraction is five stories tall with 198 ways to get wet, and features eight colorful slides, a 1,000 gallon tipping bucket, a lounging deck, changing facilities and showers. The attraction is being added as the park prepares to open for a second season under the management of Gary Story and Kieren Burke.
The water attraction is being built on the former employee parking south of the Wildcat roller coaster.
“Wild West Water Works will be the biggest splash Frontier City has ever seen,” said Stephen Ball, general manager at Frontier City. “We are extremely excited to offer this new type of experience to our guests. Between all of the rides, concerts, shows and other activities that Frontier City already has to offer, the addition of this new water area at Frontier City positions us as the best entertainment experience and value in Oklahoma.”
The last big addition to Frontier City was the Steel Lasso, a roller coaster that opened July 17, 2008, in celebration of Frontier City's 50th anniversary. The Steel Lasso is the first, and currently the only, suspended roller coaster in Oklahoma.
Park admission
Main gate admission is $34.99; junior admission — for children 48 inches and under — is $26.99 and double park season passes for both Frontier City and White Water Bay are on sale for $65.99.
