Watson 4Q profit climbs on generic Lipitor sales

PARSIPPANY, N.J. (AP) — Generic drugmaker Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Tuesday its profit surged in the fourth quarter as it began selling a low-cost version of the cholesterol drug Lipitor.

Watson said its profit grew to $94.8 million, or 75 cents per share, from $18.3 million, or 15 cents per share, one year earlier. Revenue jumped 62 percent to $1.54 billion from $952.7 million, as sales of generic drugs ...
