Wayman Tisdale Award: Early names to watch

OSU's Marcus Smart puts some local interest into watch list for the Wayman Tisdale Freshman of the Year Award. Along with the Cowboys' dynamic breakout player, here are five more first-year players to consider, due to their early season play:

F Anthony Bennett, UNLV: At 6-foot-8, Bennett can play and score inside and out. He has dominated for the Rebels so far.

G Jordan Adams, UCLA: The Bruins have gotten off to a sluggish start, but not because of Adams, who wasn't even the most hyped recruit on his own team — that was Shabazz Muhammad.

G Rasheed Sulaimon, Duke: Quickly trusted by Coach K, Sulaimon has developed into a premium perimeter threat for the Blue Devils.

F Sam Dekker, Wisconsin: With Josh Gasser out for the season, Dekker's role has expanded. And he's responded.

G Semaj Christon, Xavier: A point guard who scores and dishes and leads. Sounds a lot like Smart.
