Oklahoma weather contributes to 4 of 9 traffic-related deaths

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified 10 people who died in traffic-related incidents Thursday and Friday on state roadways. Five of the victims died in incidents connected to the winter storm.

→Christopher Johnson, 37, Seminole

Johnson died Thursday when he got out of his stalled car on State Highway 3 in Seminole County and was hit by a passing motorist, troopers said. James Murray, 47, of Stratford, was driving on the highway during the blizzard and crashed into the stalled car about 5:20 p.m., the patrol reported. The stalled car then hit Johnson. Murray was not hurt, troopers said. Johnson died at the scene.

→George Glenn Miller, 52, Marlow

Miller died Thursday as he tried to cross State Highway 29 to assist a stranded motorist in Stephens County near Marlow, the patrol reported. He was trying to reach the motorist, who was stuck in a snow drift, when a car driven by Chester L. Foster, 59, of Foster, struck him about 2:25 p.m. east of Scott Road, troopers said. Miller died at the scene, the patrol reported. Foster and a passenger were not hurt.

→Steven Donald Hankins, 50, Lawton

Hankins was involved in a noninjury crash on State Highway 7 near SE 90th Street east of Lawton about 12:15 p.
