As part of his comeback, pop icon Adam Ant not only is planning a summer U.S. tour that includes a stop in Tulsa but he also recently played on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” as you can see in this Wednesday Video Spotlight.
The English musician and the latest incarnation of his band, The Good, the Mad and the Lovely Posse, will play Tuesday at historic Cain’s Ballroom.
Adam Ant, who rose to fame as lead singer of post-punk group Adam and the Ants in the early ’80s, before embarking on a hit solo career, earned 10 U.K. top 10 hits – including three No. 1s – and became a figurehead for the New Romantic movement in the UK.
After overcoming a well-documented battle with depression and bipolar disorder, the London legend released in January his first album in 17 years, “Adam Ant Is The Blueblack Hussar Marrying The Gunner’s Daughter.” Among the album’s 17 tracks is the cool swampy-bluesy single “Cool Zombie.”
Following successful touring last year in Britain, America and Australia, the musician will launch his biggest U.S. tour in nearly two decades in mid-July. It will take in 22 states as well as Canada before finishing towards the end of September.
Adam has created so many great songs in the course of his long career, including one of my favorite songs of all the ’80s, “Goody Two Shoes.” When I was a kid, I probably watched the music video at least 100 times – on VHS taped off late-night pre-cable television no less! – and he played it as a web exclusive for Fallon.
