OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — West Virginia surprised Baylor and took a share of the Big 12 regular-season championship.
Now, the seventh-ranked Mountaineers take a 10-game winning streak into the conference tournament, which starts Friday at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
West Virginia (27-3) beat Baylor and national scoring leader Odyssey Sims 71-69 on Sunday in Waco to put itself in position to win the regular-season title. The Mountaineers then topped Kansas on Tuesday to earn a share of the championship.
Ninth-ranked Baylor (26-4), which earned the top seed in the tournament, plays the Kansas-Kansas State winner Saturday in the quarterfinals. Sims takes a 29.6 scoring average into the tournament.
West Virginia, the No. 2 seed, will play the TCU-Texas Tech winner Saturday.
Saturday's action opens when No. 4 seed Oklahoma State plays No. 5 Iowa State. Texas and Oklahoma meet in Saturday's nightcap.
