Westmoore alumni to be honored

The Westmoore Alumni Association will recognize three distinguished graduates and one retired educator at its Hall of Honor Celebration March 27.

The Westmoore Alumni Association will recognize three distinguished graduates and one retired educator at its Hall of Honor Celebration March 27.

The Hall of Honor Celebration will be at 7 p.m. at the EVE Event Center, 8601 S Western Ave. Tickets can be purchased at www.westmoorealumni.org or by calling 202-1708. Cost is $35 for a regular ticket and $20 for faculty and students.

Proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships and other support for current Westmoore High School students. Westmoore, in Oklahoma City on S Western, is in the Moore School District.

“We are proud of the talent that comes from Westmoore,” said Holley Mangham, vice president of the Westmoore Alumni Association and class of 1992 graduate. “This year we have selected the best and brightest in their selected career fields.”

Honorees

•Ben Montgomery, class of 1996, is an enterprise reporter for the Tampa Bay Times and founder of the narrative journalism website Gangrey.com. Montgomery studied journalism at Arkansas Tech University, where he played defensive back for the football team. In 2010, Montgomery was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in local reporting
