Preston John Taylor, a Westmoore High School senior who has performed and starred in numerous school and community theater productions since moving to Oklahoma three years ago, will report July 24 for a two-year mission to Italy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Before going to Italy, Taylor will spend six weeks in the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, where his preparation will include studying Italian.

“I am absolutely ecstatic to serve as a missionary,” Taylor said. “I want to share with others what has brought me so much happiness in life and that is the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am looking forward to getting to know and love the people of Italy through my service, and I am very excited to embrace the Italian culture and environment.”

Taylor received the State Superintendent Award for the Arts for choir. He performed in musical productions at Sooner Theatre in Norman, including “High School Musical,” as Troy Bolton; “The Secret Garden,” as Albert Lennox; “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” as Levi; “Footloose,” as Ren; “Crazy For You,” as Bobby Child; “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” as Finch; and as Ambrose in “Hello Dolly.”
