Regarding Jenni Carlson's “Andrew Edwards is a Special Olympics star who is moonlighting as the Westmoore basketball team's manager” (Sports, June 14): From time to time I read a story that truly touches my heart. This one about Andrew Edwards of Westmoore is one of those stories. I'm so grateful that his mom realized the medical professional was wrong. It could happen to anybody — somebody in your family or yourself. Learning disabilities such as these are difficult, especially when they don't fit any criteria. My heart goes out to them.
Here is a family that's facing ongoing hurdles and yet Andrew is sunshine and bringing up the morale of those all around him. My thanks to these coaches, teammates, friends, mentors and Andrew's mother and father who believed in his God-given potential.
