The grant from the federal Health Resources Service Administration includes $525,000 this year then $650,000 in each of the next two years.

The Wetumka area has been without medical services since December when a clinic run by the hospital in Holdenville closed.

The health center is to be open by Jan. 2 and chamber officials say they hope to have it in operation before then.
