Jones High School basketball?

Fire destroyed Jones High School and displaced its student body back in December. Its basketball teams, though, kept their home.

Next week, they return to it.

The Jones gym survived the devastating fire, and even though the basketball teams have been practicing there for almost a month, they have yet to play a game there. Jones had to go on the road at first because the gym had no heat — the gas line ran through the destroyed part of the school and needed to be re-routed — and the Longhorns have had road games ever since.

Tuesday night, Mount St. Mary comes to Jones. Both the boys and the girls have won just twice, but wins and losses seem less important this year.

"We're glad at least to still have our activities going,” Jones superintendent Mike Steele said.
