We really enjoyed the Lumber jack show and the OG&E(?) tower ride. Was told by relatives to get there early and leave before the gangsters took over after dark, which we did!

I liked the building where they had the flower display. They would decorate one end to look like a mountain village or an island paradise. I especially like the strudel bakery they had in that building. One year when I went over there, the building was closed. I wonder why?

I remember one year there was an exhibit of Siamese twins, who were conjoined at the stomach. It wasn't a very pleasant display - out in public - free admission. One twin was taller than the other, and it was kind of pitiful when they looked at you. I always remember Bob Barry and another guy broadcasting the OU/Texas football game from a remote at the state fair. There was an exhibit in the 1960s or 1970s which promised you could taste colors, and other fantastic hallucinogenic-type of enticements. I remember in the 1950s or early 1960s a booth in the agricultural building concerning corn being used as a fuel source. I have lots of wonderful memories of the fair, and I hope my children will have also. I still wonder what happened to those two young girls in the 1970s who disappeared from the state fair and were never seen again. Is that still an open case? Things like that can ruin anything like a fair. I hope they have good security this year and for many years to come.

I love the exhibits, and the vendors in the buildings. Don't go to the midway at all.

There's always some special pricing going on as far as admission, and I think it's always a special event. Some people like to see the new cars. Others like to people-gaze. Why all this concern about people without teeth? By and large we Oklahomans are a pretty people! The girls, my gosh. Look at the Honeybees. I think the name of that other strip club was the Harlem Review. There may have been 3 on the midway, Club Lido, Harlem Review, and one other. I was pretty young, but I did get to go into Club Lido. It was burlesque with the corny comedian, the star stripper, and was kind of fun, in a weird way. I was 15 or so, so it was kind of exciting to me. It was raunchier then, but a lot more mysterious. But it's still fun. I don't like riding the rides, but there is plenty to see and do, especially for kids.

It's called "summer teeth". Summer there summer not. I too miss the freak show area. Last time we went was the last time we'll go. Prices are rediculous.

I really like all of the quality and classy folks along the Midway with 1-2 teeth that try to get you to play this game, no this game and all of those wonderful smells that come with them and the surroundings....aww, that's a great time. : )

Lynn, I guess you would have to include yourself in that statement since you do quite a bit of posting yourself.

I like the way that the Fair brings out the self-righteous snobs who visit this comment board. Oh, I also like the roasted turkey legs.

I think alot of these posts are right on. The fair is scary nowadays. With all the crazy people coming out for the fair its no wonder Oklahoma gets called the names it does. I used to take offense to that til I went to the fair.. now I just have to agree with others .

I love the fair! The sights, the sounds, the atmosphere, the double ferris wheel all lit up on the midway after dark; smiling kids who can't wait to get to the next ride; the way cotton candy grows on the stick; couples holding hands and just meandering here and there; tasting different kinds of food; exploring all the building, especially the international building - seeing the design/decor of different cultures. Cottonwood Post and the Native American dances! Come on people, get in the spirit! :-)

I do miss Club Lido and there was another semi-strip club in the midway. I liked all the geek acts also, the alligator lady, etc. That was so mysterious and fun as a youth. And they sold those chameleon lizards you could put on your shirt. They usually died about 3 days later, but it sure was neat.

I wonder if the question was out looking for compliments. There are few reasons to go anymore. I used to go a few times per year but the attractions have gotten few and far between. I do find some things at the Fairgrounds(as the puppy races) but they aren't connected to the Fair.

I have always enjoyed riding the ferris wheel and eating the funnel cakes. The thing I like the most, though, is checking out all the exhibits...especially when they have new cars on display.

How after so many decades, they still can't organize the parking in a sensible manner! How that the handicapped people have to park and travel just about as far as everyone else that can walk OK. That it is mostly just a giant flea market, with over priced food / drinks. That Blue ribbons are given to people for submitting junk as exhibits. And the gangs of kids running & roaming around throwing their beer / drinking cups / food wrappers on the ground [like the place is a trash heap] is a real treat too.

I'm always impressed with the corndogs. They go up $.50 each year and get an inch shorter. Just like everything that revolves around the fair; it's just here to seperate you from your money.

I was pretty impressed last year (or the year before) when I went with my daughter and saw Jefferson Starship performing at the Toyota Stage. Wow! That was some good stuff. And, the parking was pretty good. WE got in and out pretty easily. I like our state fair. There is plenty to do for people of all ages. I also liked the high diving acts. My daughter liked the corral area where she could ride a stick pony and dress up in Cowboy gear. it was a very fun time. Really, she liked running up nd down the Daily Oklahoman little tower. And I liked the stage there with the band playing. What was their name? they were good.

We purchased tickets online for Disney On Ice last year online. The voucher I printed off stated admission to the fair was included. After standing in line at the gate I found out different. We were charged for fair admission. We helped ourselves to better seating 20 minutes into the show so I felt a little better about the rip-off at the gate.

Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, black, it's a festival of colors. And that's just the teeth of the tilt-a-whirl operator.

I remember some movie I saw once called state fair and that is my idea of what a state fair should be. Now I feel like I need to go armed not only for the gansta's but the vendors as they all attempt a robbery here and there. LOL !!!

The fat, smelly, nasty dregs of society that drag themselves out of the trailer park for a few days and grace us with their presence. Never have I seen a more varied collection of mullets, beer guts with navel rings (and that's just the women), and lack of dental hygiene in my entire life. It's further justification that some things are best left under the rock they came from.

Yeah, Jimmy, I'm reminded of Bill Engeval's original comedy bit. If you're thinking bad about yourself, life's a little down, just go to a state fair and look around. LOL! I remember how good they were in the late 70's and early 80's when I was a kid. Now it's the last place I want to be. LOL!

Nothing anymore. It used to be great but the fair has gotten smaller every year and the prices outrages. It also attracts everything that was ever under a rock. I guess the best of it now is the building with the homemade food and quilts etc,.
