What readers say about Oklahoma's turnpikes

“I think our state's turnpikes are well maintained and well run. My only complaints are: Having to pay full toll while the Kilpatrick is under major construction; and making school buses pay tolls, period. They should be exempt. Since school buses generally do not have Pikepasses, bus drivers and coaches often end up paying out of their own pockets.” — Thomas Keller, Oklahoma City

“I live in Kansas City and drive to Tulsa and OKC occasionally. When I compare I-44 with I-70 in Missouri, Turner Turnpike is so much better — a lot of Oklahomans wouldn't believe the difference. I'm hoping Missouri makes I-70 a toll road, assuming the tolls would go to the upkeep and maintenance of the roads.”

Ray Lawrence, Kansas City, Mo.
