With the 2014 U.S. Senior Open coming to Oak Tree National, Gil Morgan, Bob Tway, Willie Wood and Scott Verplank weighed in on their home course.
Gil Morgan: “There could be a little more pressure to play well. At the same time we have some familiarity with the course. Obviously it's the type of course the more you play it the more you understand the greens, the different breaks, rolls, contours and speed.”
Bob Tway: “I really enjoyed it when the 2006 (Senior) PGA was here. That was fun. Everyone is excited. It's great for the people of Oklahoma and the people of Edmond to see all these guys play. Most of them can still play pretty well.”
Willie Wood: “It's a big advantage for us to play Oak Tree because the course has a lot of local knowledge that you need to feel more comfortable. It's not a course you can play just one or two times and be ready to go. I'm really looking forward to it next year.”
Scott Verplank: “What a great deal to get to play on your home golf course. Obviously we'll have some sort of home-course advantage but that doesn't score for you. You still have to go out and play well. But familiarity, hopefully it will make it a little easier for all four of us.”
