What the Oklahoma City Thunder players are saying about their defense

“It's always important that we focus in on our one-on-one (defense) first. You're going to be tested. Individual defense is where it starts, and if the defense breaks down, we need to have the help. We'll have to have multiple efforts.” – Brooks

“I think that communication is big. If something is catching you by surprise, it's hard for you to talk to that guard to let him know what's coming. I think that's what I'm able to bring, maybe more so with this team than a team with more veterans.” — Collison

“We only played defense in the second half (at Dallas). That's one thing I tell our guys. It takes 48 minutes of that type of effort, and it's hard to do, but you have to do it.” – Brooks

“We know every team in this league can score if we don't defend. I look at it (facing Denver) as a great challenge for us and not as, ‘Uh-oh, we're going to be in trouble.'” – Brooks

“It was not the way to finish the game. It wasn't the best of defense in the fourth quarter.” – Brooks, after the Thunder allowed 39 points in the final period of a 114-109 victory over Golden State
