What they’re saying about Sam Bradford

I have him at fourth and would take him very high in the first round. People that don’t like him can’t give me a reason why they don’t… Maturity issues maybe were there when he came out of high school, but they’re not there and haven’t been there as of late… His arm strength may not be John Elway-like but it’s very good — it’s good enough. Everything Bradford didn’t do, in terms of NFL conditions, he did — taking snaps, commanding a huddle, looking down that gun barrel, not playing on a perfect team, that defense couldn’t stop anyone. And from September on he played with an injury that would have sent most guys to surgery to have it corrected or to the sidelines, or would affect his performance. … I have a very high grade of Sam Bradford, but I gave a slight edge to Jimmy. ”

→ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay: "The hardest part of (evaluating players) is figuring out how an individual is going to handle certain situations. I think (Bradford) has the temperament and the right football intelligence to succeed. That’s why I think he’s a great pick for the Rams at No. 1. I think he can handle it. He’s mentally tough. And he has a completely different body now than he had even eight months ago. He’s up to 236 pounds and is clearly the biggest and best in terms of his build. He’s the most put together quarterback of the elite guys in this class.”
