Kansas coach Charlie Weis: “One issue, the one that everyone sees, is the fact that we're 2-10 and 3-9 over the last two years … the other one, which I think is maybe even more important, were not the losses last year but how badly they lost so often.”

West Virginia receiver Tavon Austin: “You see all the people here, you see the mascots, cheerleaders. You see all the players walking around; you don't really say much to them. You look at them; they look at you. We're definitely ready to hit the field.”

Baylor coach Art Briles, on being without Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III: “How do you adjust not having the best football player in the United States of America last year at the collegiate level? OSU coach Mike Gundy: “Five, six years ago when I was at these meetings and saying that our goal was to win a Big 12 championship and play for a national championship, there was just a small percentage of people that believed, and probably 99 percent of those people were in orange.”

West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen: “What's awesome about the Big 12 as opposed to where we were last year (Big East) is just the national exposure, and it's going to be West Coast to East Coast. And they're going to be put in some venues to be able to shine, if they can handle that.”
