TULSA – Hear Oklahoma musician Travis Linville at 5 p.m. today at Guthrie Green, 111 E Brady Street.

In addition, Grazzhopper will perform at 2 p.m., while Brad James Band will play at 3:30 p.m.

Linville, 36, is releasing Tuesday a new EP called “Out on the Wire,” which he is streaming now at www.travislinvillemusic.com.

The Norman-based recording artist, who often tours with Hayes Carll, recently did a phone interview with my excellent colleague Nathan Poppe, and he talked about – among other things – what stopped him from playing all the instruments he’s fluent in on the EP.

“The thing that stopped me is mostly just wanting to have some element of collaboration. I could sit here in my little studio setup and mess with songs forever. Generally what happens, I’d get songs to a certain place, and it just feels a lot better to include my friends and some other great musicians (David Leach on bass, Ryan Jones on keys, Giovanni Carnuccio on drums). As I was bringing those guys in, it was great because I built the songs up to a certain point, and then I call a few friends to come over, then all of a sudden the thing was finished.”
