WEATHERFORD – The 15th annual SWOSUPalooza is set for today on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus, and Oklahoma City singer-songwriter Graham Colton and Australian duo Falls will lead the music festival. The event is presented by the SWOSU Student Government Association and 95.5 the Coyote.

SWOSUPalooza is free for everyone and also will feature Oklahoma talents At Long Last, Denver Duncan, and Tallows.

The music begins at 6 p.m., and the stage will be set on the south side of the Centennial Clock Tower in the center of campus. There will be two food trucks, Daddy Brad’s Meat Shack BBQ and Taste of Soul Chicken and Waffles, for concessions. Festivalgoers can bring blankets and chairs and sit on the lawn of the Memorial Student Center.

Colton in an Oklahoma native who has appeared on tour with John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band and Maroon Five. His new album, “Lonely Ones,” was released in January and was inspired by his friendship with Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips.

“It was kind of like every idea I ever showed him, he took it, turned it upside down, shook it all out. And then I’d kind of go back to the drawing board and say ‘Well what about this?’” Colton told me of working with Coyne. “He was a really good sounding board, and Steven is such a gentle spirit. He was really great. He played drums, he played guitars, he played keyboards. So a lot of the lushness of the album I really have Steven to thank for it … ‘cause he played on every song.”

Melinda Kirwin and Simon Rudston-Brown are the Sydney duo Falls. Falls has toured with the likes of The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, and Passenger in the last year. They released their debut U.S. EP “Into The Fire” on Feb. 18.
