TheatreOCU and Oklahoma Children’s Theatre have teamed up for a stage version of the quintessential Christmas story. Their final performance of Joe Landry’s “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” is set for 8 tonight in the Burg Theater at the Oklahoma City University’s Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center.

The holiday classic, based on the American film, comes to life as a live 1940s radio broadcast, complete with live sound effects and commercial breaks. With the help of a small ensemble that brings numerous characters to the stage, the story of idealistic George Bailey unfolds as he considers ending his life one fateful Christmas Eve.
