The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma will launch its spring “ACM@UCO Alive!” concert series with two back-to-back nights of student performances at 7 p.m. today and Tuesday. The shows will take place at the ACM@UCO Performance Lab, 329 E Sheridan Ave. in downtown Oklahoma City.
The “ACM@UCO Alive!” concerts feature bands comprised of the academy’s student performance majors performing a variety of cover music ranging from well-known classic tunes to contemporary hits. The concerts provide ACM@UCO students with the opportunity to showcase their talents and what they learn while studying at the academy to friends, family and the greater Oklahoma City metro community at large.
“Concert attendees can expect to hear classic and contemporary hits from records crafted by the likes of The Human League, Stevie Nicks, Katy Perry, Devo, and many more,” said Mitch Bell, ACM@UCO coordinator of academic operations and producer of the “ACM@UCO Alive!” concert series, in a news release.
“Hit-makers aside, I am also excited to say that one of our student groups will be taking on the challenge of writing a set of original music specifically for the show.”
In addition to the live music performances, guests can purchase new ACM@UCO merchandise at discounted prices and grab free promotional items.
Admission is $5 for the general public and free for UCO students, faculty and staff with a UCO ID card. Other “ACM@UCO Alive!” spring concerts will take place at 7 p.m. March 31-April 1 and April 28-29 at the ACM@UCO Performance Lab.
