See the national touring production of the long-running, award-winning musical “Chicago” at 7:30 p.m. today through Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday at Civic Center Music Hall, 201 N Walker. Information: (800) 869-1451 or www.celebrityattractions.com.
As previously reported, Tulsa native Chris VanDenende is returning to his home state with two supporting roles in the national tour. In the first act of the Prohibition-era musical, VanDenhende plays Sgt. Fogarty, the police officer who arrests chorus girl Roxie Hart for murdering her lover. In Act 2, the former Tulsan plays the judge who presides over Roxie’s trial, where “Razzle Dazzle” lawyer Billy Flynn charms the jury in her favor.
“I love doing the supporting roles in the show and getting to act and sing and dance. It’s great to do a show like ‘Chicago’ where every single performer has to be a triple-threat,” VanDenhende told me in a phone interview.
