Oklahoma City’s 31st annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration takes place today with the theme “Expanding the Dream.”

The signature event, the parade, will begin at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral, 127 NW 7.

The traditional silent march, which represents the true spirit of the modern Civil Rights Movement, begins at 9 a.m. at the Freedom Center on NE 23 and ends at the south steps of the state Capitol.

Then, the annual bell ringing ceremony will take place at the Oklahoma Historical Society steps, across the street from the Capitol to the east.

The MLK holiday program will take place at noon at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral.

In addition, a job fair is planned for 9 a.m. to noon at the Henrietta B. Foster Center, 614 NE 4.

The Oklahoma City Martin Luther King Holiday Coalition is proud that this event has been and remains one that is inclusive of all races, creeds, nationalities and religions. For more information, go to http://okcmlk.org.
