Today’s featured event:

NORMAN – The Larry Mitchell Trio takes the stage at 7:30 tonight in Norman’s Lions Park at the corner of  Flood and Symmes, as part of the Summer Breeze free concert series presented by The Depot (formerly known as the Performing Arts Studio).

The Larry Mitchell Trio is a dynamic rock instrumental funk-flavored splash of intensity. They blend rock, funk, jazz and blues into a melodic frenzy, carrying the listener along on a journey of bliss and intrigue. The band is led by Grammy award-winning producer/engineer/guitarist Larry Mitchell, who has toured the world playing guitar with artists such as Tracy Chapman, Billy Squier, Ric Ocasek and Miguel Bosé. In his original compositions, he skillfully weaves guitar textures that showcase his virtuosity as a solo artist and ensemble player.

The trio also features the stylings of two Berklee School of Music graduates: Russ Garner’s funky chops on drums and Austin Solomon’s groove-oriented music vocabulary on bass.

Music fans are encouraged to bring seating and favorite refreshments and enjoy a musical evening in the park.
