What to know

Film studio: Warner Bros.

Director: John Whitesell

Writers: Eric Champnella, Jeff Farley

Star: Kevin Durant as himself.

Co-Stars: Taylor Gray (high school kid who gets Durant's skills), Brandon T. Jackson (Durant's agent).

Release date: Feb. 17, 2012 (tentative date).

Budget: $7 million (estimated).

Other cameos: Candace Parker, Jim Belushi, Wanda Pratt (Kevin Durant's mother).

Filming location: Baton Rouge, La. Warner Bros. attempted to film in Oklahoma City, but the Oklahoma Film and Music Office had run out of funding for the year. The state of Louisiana, meanwhile, could offer advantageous tax incentives. Filming will be done in Oklahoma City when the NBA lockout is lifted. Either a preseason game or a regular season game is scheduled to be used to shoot live game footage and the halfcourt shot that triggers the beginning of the “switch.”

Will other Thunder players appear in the movie?: It's possible, but none are currently scheduled to have a role. According to Durant, there has been talk of coach Scott Brooks playing a role.

Will there be a premiere?: Yes. In what capacity, though, is still being determined. There's been talk of a premiere being held in Oklahoma City, possibly at Chesapeake Energy Arena, with fans invited and proceeds going to charity.

Did you know?: It hasn't been confirmed, but it is believed that Miami Heat star LeBron James once turned down “Switch,” which opened the door for Durant to star in the same project.
