Turns out, one of the New England receiver's old Heritage Hall buddies had a super week of his own. Graham Colton made his national TV debut last Friday on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He performed "Best Days,” the first single of his newest album, "Here Right Now.”
Colton, you might remember, shared the backfield with Welker at the Oklahoma City private school, passed for a then-state record 7,402 career yards and helped make Heritage Hall a power.
For a time, Colton thought about continuing his football career, even exploring the possibilities at SMU. He decided, instead, to attend college there in Dallas, where he launched his music career.
Good move.
"We're just hoping the song continues to grow,” Colton said of "Best Days.” "I hope that a national tour will happen this spring.”
After that, who knows?
"(Our mothers) have this secret wish,” Colton said, "that I would sing ‘The National Anthem' while Wes is playing in the Super Bowl.”
