Beijing's "Bird Nest” stadium will be abuzz Friday.
Beginning at 7 p.m., athletes from an estimated 205 nations will march into the stadium, the Olympic cauldron will be lit and the Games of the XXIX Olympiad will officially begin. NBC and its sister networks are planning more than 1,400 hours of television coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympics, which run through Aug. 24. And action begins even before Friday's opening ceremony. Here's a rundown of this week's televised events (a full page will be dedicated to Olympic coverage the following two weeks): THURSDAY •Telemundo: 4:30-6:30 a.m. — Men's Soccer (Honduras vs. Italy). 7:30-9:30 a.m. — Men's Soccer (Argentina vs. Ivory Coast). FRIDAY •NBC: 7-11 p.m. — Opening Ceremony. SATURDAY •NBC: 1:30-6 a.m. — Primetime replay. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. — Women's Volleyball (USA vs. Japan); Beach Volleyball (USA preliminary round); Cycling (men's road race). 7-11 p.m. — Swimming (400 individual medley final); Beach Volleyball (USA preliminary round); Gymnastics (men's qualification). 11:30 p.m.-1 a.m. — Men's Volleyball (USA vs. Venezuela); Swimming (women's 100 breaststroke semifinals). •USA: 1 a.m.-noon — Women's Soccer (USA vs. Japan); Women's Basketball (USA vs. Czech Republic); Beach Volleyball (preliminary rounds); Equestrian (dressage); Fencing (women's individual sabre final); Shooting (women's air rifle final); Weightlifting (women's 48 kg). •CNBC: 1-4 a.m. — Boxing (75 kg and 81 kg elimination bouts). 4-7 p.m. — Boxing (75 kg and 81 kg elimination bouts). 11 p.m.-1 a.m. — Tennis (first-round singles and doubles matches). •MSNBC: 4 a.m.-4 p.m. — Women's Soccer (Nigeria vs. Germany, Brazil vs. North Korea); Badminton (first-round singles matches); Women's Handball (France vs. Angola, Russia vs. South Korea); Women's Volleyball (Italy vs. Russia, Poland vs. Cuba). •Telemundo: 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. — Beach Volleyball; Boxing; Soccer; Volleyball. 6-8 p.m. — Beach Volleyball (early rounds); Boxing (early rounds). SUNDAY •NBC: 1-5 a.m. — Primetime replay. •USA: 1 a.m.-1 p.m. — Men's Soccer (USA vs. Netherlands); Men's Basketball (Argentina vs. Lithuania); Archery (women's team final); Beach Volleyball (preliminary rounds); Equestrian (dressage); Tennis (early rounds); Weightlifting (men's 56 kg final). •CNBC: 1-3:30 a.m. — Boxing (64 kg and 69 kg elimination bouts). •MSNBC: 4 a.m.-4 p.m. — Men's Soccer (Italy vs. South Korea); Women's Field Hockey (USA vs. Argentina); Men's Volleyball (Serbia vs. Russia, Bulgaria vs. China); Men's Water Polo (Hungary vs. Montenegro, Croatia vs. Italy); Men's Handball (Croatia vs. Spain); Shooting (men's trap final). •Telemundo: 4 a.m.-2 p.m. — Men's Soccer Argentina vs. Australia); Swimming; Beach Volleyball; Gymnastics.

SUNDAY
•"Cold Case” (9 p.m. on CBS): Country music singer Tim McGraw's songs are prominently featured in the episode "The Red and the Blue,” which originally aired in December 2006.
•"Factory” (9 p.m. on SPIKE): This painfully funny look at life as a factory employee ends its first season.
•"The Fastest Man on No Legs” (9 p.m. on BBC America): This new documentary chronicles the story of Olympic hopeful Oscar Pistorius, a double amputee from South Africa.
•"HGTV Design Star” (8 p.m. on HGTV): Viewer votes decide the third-season winner, who will get his or her own HGTV show.
•NFL Preseason Football (7 p.m. on NBC): The Hall of Fame Game features the Washington Redkins taking on the Indianapolis Colts.
•"Pam: Girl on the Loose” (9 p.m. on E!): Actress Pamela Anderson ("V.I.P.”) gives viewers an inside look at her life in this new observational series.
•"Studio DC: Almost Live” (7 p.m. on Disney): Disney Channel stars, including Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and Ashley Tisdale, share the stage with the Muppets in this sketch comedy special.
•"Summer Showdown” (9 p.m. on HGTV): This four-episode series pits HGTV designers and carpenters against each other in a design duel, with a panel of celebrity judges picking the winner. The premiere episode features "Design Star judges Vern Yip and Cynthia Rowley going head-to-head.
•TCM's Summer Under the Stars — Gregory Peck: Among his 12 films airing in the festival today are 1947's "The Paradine Case” (7 a.m.), 1946's "The Yearling” (4:45 p.m.) and 1954's "Man With a Million” (9:15 p.m.).
•"Sunset Tan” (9:30 p.m. on E!): Back for a second season is the reality series that follows the staff at an upscale Los Angeles tanning salon. Erin, one of the staff members, is from Oklahoma.
MONDAY
•"American Gladiators” (7 p.m. on NBC): The champions are crowned on the two-hour season finale.
•"Baghdad High” (8 p.m. on HBO): This new documentary follows four Iraqi teenagers through their senior year of high school as they juggle their studies, friendships and family lives.
•"The Biggest Chinese Restaurant in the World” (8 p.m. on Sundance): This four-part documentary series profiles The West Lake, a massive five-star restaurant located in the capital of the Hunan provice in China.
•"I Want to Work for Diddy” (8 p.m. on VH1): This new series follows 13 applicants as they compete to land a job as Diddy's personal assistant.
•"Luke's Parental Advisory” (9:30 p.m. on VH1): This new series provides an inside look at the life of hip-hop's original bad boy and former member of 2 Live Crew, Luther "Luke” Campbell.
