Dez Bryant's sideline rant on Sunday has the sports world buzzing, but in the NFL, the former Oklahoma State Cowboy and current Dallas Cowboy doesn't even rank among the top five sideline rants.
1. Buddy Ryan vs. Kevin Gilbride, 1994: The Houston Oilers were leading the New York Jets by two touchdowns, and right before halftime, Oilers quarterback Cody Carlson got stripped and lost the ball deep in their territory. On the sideline, Ryan, Houston's defensive coordinator, stewed. He had ridiculed Gilbride's run-and-shoot offense for a long time, and the fumble caused his emotions to bubble over. He ended up punching Gilbride in the face, and the two had to be separated.
2. Peyton Manning vs. Jeff Saturday, 2010: The quarterback and center were called the “old married couple” because they won so many games together in Indianapolis, but after three consecutive incompletions forced the Colts to kick a field goal during a Monday night game against the Rams, Saturday commented that they should be running the ball near the end zone. The normally mild manner Manning snapped. He stormed down the bench and lit into Saturday. F-bombs were dropped — and picked up by the microphone that Manning was wearing.
