Where to get flu shot

The Oklahoma City-County Health Department offers not only the basic flu shot but also the high-dose flu shot for adults older than 65; the nasal flu mist for healthy people ages 2 through 49 and women who aren't pregnant; and the intradermal shot that has a smaller needle.

Some pharmacies have flu shots available. At Walgreens, flu shots are $31.99 if you're paying cash. A flu shot is usually covered under Medicare Part B as well as many insurance plans, such as Blue Cross Blue Shields of Oklahoma. Also at Walgreens, you can get a free immunization assessment to find out what other vaccines you might need.

At CVS/pharmacy, the cost of a regular flu shot is $31.99. Many health plans, typically cover the full cost of a flu shot. Direct medical billing for many national and regional health plans that cover all or part of the cost of a flu shot is also available.

CVS also offers the intradermal vaccine for $36.99 and the high-dose vaccine for $49.99. CVS does not offer the flu mist. Walgreens also has both vaccines.
