Rainfall amounts this week are like most rains, varying in totals. Some of the top-end amounts so far include 2.94 inches at Bowlegs, 2.85 inches at Ardmore and 2.63 inches at Newport, according to the Oklahoma Mesonet weather network.

Now in Oklahoma County, totals included 1.95 inches at the Oklahoma City – West, Mesonet site.

Also in weather, the temperature dipped to 37.1 degrees at 8:15 a.m. this morning at Boise City.

Plus, the National Weather Service, Amarillo, Texas (with coverage including the Oklahoma Panhandle) has issued a Frost Advisory that is in effect for the central and eastern Oklahoma Panhandle and all but the southeastern Texas Panhandle through mid-morning Wednesday.

And, Gary McManus writes today in his “Oklahoma Climatological Survey Ticker” about rainfall and its impact or lack of on some Oklahoma lakes:

“Some water did fall to the north of Altus in the Altus-Lugert watershed, but I’m afraid it did little good and Altus still sits at 12 percent  (or so) of normal. Tom Steed hangs in there at a dismal 31 percent.

“Canton got no help with less than a half of an inch in their watershed all the way up through Ft. Supply Lake, so they’re still looking rather pitiful as well at around 21 percent.”
