The local TV numbers are in for Wednesday's huge sports day, and the Mavericks reigned supreme.

The Mavericks playoff victory over the San Antonio Spurs in prime time scored a 6.8 for KTXA (Channel 27). That translates into 180,560 homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.

The Rangers afternoon victory over the Oakland A's, which moved them into first place in the American League West, earned a 1.9 (50,450 homes) for Fox Sports Southwest.

The Stars primetime playoff victory over the Anaheim Duck played in Dallas averaged a 1.4 (37,174 homes).

The Mavericks and Stars went head to head beginning at 7 p.m. The Stars game lasted 30 minutes longer and apparently attracted viewers from the Mavericks game. The final half hour of Stars-Duck scored a 3.3 rating (87,625 homes).

The numbers from NFL Network's "Schedule Release" show, of particular interest to Cowboys fans, have yet to trickle in. At any rate, they shouldn't compare to the game day ratings. The 56 major-market average was about a 0.5. It will be most interesting to see when they peaked.

In related news: The Mavericks-Spurs in San Antonio, where there is no major league competition, scored a 16.7, which topped the combined 10.1 earned by the Mavericks-Rangers-Stars.
