OSU’s once-touted Triplets have broken up.

Dez Bryant’s been put on the shelf, pending an NCAA appeal.

Kendall Hunter’s hurt, considered doubtful to return from an ankle injury when the Cowboys play at Texas A&M on Saturday.

That leaves a heavy burden on quarterback Zac Robinson. And a search for reinforcements.

Keith Toston and Beau Johnson have already been filling in for Hunter. Who replaces Dez isn’t nearly as clear.

The candidates:

→Justin Blackmon, Rfr. Limited lately by minor ailments, Blackmon remains the young wideout with the most upside.

→Josh Cooper, So. Has shown solid hands and route-running skills, but isn’t a downfield threat.

→DeMarcus Conner, Sr. The best blocker among the group, he’s again healthy after getting banged up early on.

→Dameron Fooks, So. Came out of nowhere to shine against Grambling. We’re sure to see more of him now.

→Hubert Anyiam, So. A deep threat, overall skills make Anyiam a legit breakout candidate.

→Isaiah Anderson, Rfr. Lesser known receiver is among the fastest players on the team.
