The wife of a Tinker Air Force Base airman accused of beating a 1-year-old boy in 2010 pleaded guilty Friday to enabling child abuse.
Elsa Solis, of Oklahoma City, entered her plea without the benefit of a deal with prosecutors and faces up to life in prison when she is sentenced Nov. 30 by Oklahoma County District Judge Cindy Truong.
The attorney for Elsa Solis declined to comment outside court.
Solis' husband, Gabriel B. Solis, 31, is expected to plead guilty Monday to a felony child abuse charge, officials said.
The couple's trial was scheduled to begin Monday.
They were arrested in October 2010 after doctors found significant injuries on the boy, whose mother was an airman deployed to Afghanistan, Oklahoma City police said.
Police said the child had numerous serious injuries when hospitalized after vomiting and having a five-minute seizure. Doctors found multiple broken ribs and other bones in various states of healing, as well as a lacerated liver, bruising and a punctured lung.
The child's mother had placed her son in the Solis' care and made them legal guardians before she left the base in Hawaii where she and Gabriel Solis had been stationed, police said.
