Wildfire potential high today in Oklahoma

The wildfire potential in Oklahoma today will be high before lowering on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs should be from 60 to 65 with easterly winds 15 to 20, gusting to 25 mph.

The wildfire threat diminishes tonight as storm moves into the state. Some areas could get as much as 2 inches of rain. Thunderstorms are expected to reach the western one-third part of the state from 8 p.m. to midnight before moving to the central part of the state from midnight to 6 a.m. Sunday.

The wildfire potential will return to high from Monday to Thursday, except for a moderate potential on Tuesday.

Tonight: Occasional rain and thunderstorms in the west and a chance of rain and thunderstorms in the east. Lows from the 40s to lower 50s.
