ANADARKO — A dozen homes were evacuated Monday afternoon and a state highway was closed as a wildfire burned near Anadarko, officials said.
The fire was about four miles west of Anadarko along State Highway 9, Caddo County Emergency Manager Larry McDuffey said.
“We've got it contained,” McDuffey said at 5 p.m. Monday. “It's not out yet.”
Twenty departments and around 100 firefighters worked to fight the blaze, he said.
No structures had been lost as of 5 p.m., and those evacuated were being kept out of their homes, he said.
The fire also forced the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to close SH 9 between U.S. 62 and county road 2620.
