The Houston Aeros had two players leave with injuries after laying on the ice for several minutes, including center Mikael Granlund, one of the American Hockey League's top scorers who scored his fourth goal.
Aeros defenseman Jonas Brodin left late in the game with an apparent collarbone injury after he was hit by Barons forward Taylor Hall in Oklahoma City's 4-3 Friday night at the Cox Convention Center. Taylor was assessed a five-minute game-misconduct penalty on the hit.
“I thought it was shoulder to shoulder,” Hall said. “I was a little disappointed that it was a five-minute penalty, but if those reports are true I shouldn't have had a match penalty.
“It happened so fast. I thought it was a better play to hit him than grab the puck. It's too bad that he's hurt. I feel bad for him. Hopefully it's not his head.”
ZAHN SCORES IN DEBUT
Defenseman Teigan Zahn, promoted from Stockton of the ECHL in midweek, started Friday's game, had an assist and provided a physical presence in his Barons debut.
Zahn, who played last year at the University of Calgary, attended training camp but was sent to the ECHL. Zahn scored five points in six games with Stockton.
