He may be the most entertaining pitcher to watch in Major League Baseball. Dontrelle Willis brought his high leg kick to Oklahoma Thursday night to be honored as the 2005 winner of the Warren Spahn Award, given to the best left-handed starting pitcher in baseball.
Willis racked up 22 victories, 170 strikeouts and posted a 2.63 ERA with the Florida Marlins last season, and will pitch for Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. "The D-Train" as he's called, honored Thursday afternoon at the Oklahoma Sports Museum in Guthrie. Willis joins an impressive list of recipients since the Spahn Award's inception in 1999.
