Store celebrates grand opening

— Clothes Mentor, a women’s clothing resale chain, has opened a store at 3208 S Broadway in the Shoppes on Broadway. The shop celebrated its grand opening Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Clothes Mentor buys and resells brand-name, used women’s clothing and accessories. Founded in Columbus, Ohio, Clothes Mentor has about 100 stores across the country.

Popcorn retailer opens shop

Candy and popcorn retailer Kernels & Kandies has opened a new store at Northwest Expressway and Rockwell Avenue. Kernels & Kandies offers more than 50 flavors of popcorn, as well as homemade fudge and gift baskets. The shop is at 7002 Northwest Expressway, Suite B.

Macy’s sales fall short of goal

— Macy’s says its first-quarter profit rose 3.2 percent, but the department store chain’s sales fell short of expectations. Macy’s Inc. raised its dividend by 25 percent. Macy’s said Tuesday that it earned $224 million, or 60 cents per share, in the quarter that ended May 3.
