Soup Soup expands availability

Gourmet Gallery customers can sample Soup Soup products during an event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at both the Edmond and Oklahoma City locations. Soup Soup's popular line of prepared foods and soups are now available for takeout at Gourmet Gallery, as well as exclusive items. Soup Soup, created by Terry Sinclair, was available at Nichols Hills' Crescent Market until it closed; she also has a storefront but the partnership with Gourmet Gallery will give the brand more exposure in north Oklahoma City and Edmond.

Apple sells 84 million iPads

Apple has sold more than 84 million iPads since its debut in 2010. The latest model debuted just two weeks before the start of Apple's April-June quarter, which became a record-setter in iPad sales. Several challengers have come along, including Amazon.com Inc. with its Kindle Fire. A new version of that is expected to be unveiled on Thursday.

Ben & Jerry's sues porn maker

Ben & Jerry's is suing the maker of “Ben & Cherry's” X-rated DVDs, saying the “hard-core pornographic” films have smeared the ice cream maker's reputation. The trademark lawsuit was filed Wednesday in federal court in New York City. It says the sale of hard-core and exploitive pornographic DVDs and related goods would tarnish Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc.'s name by creating an association with pornography. The lawsuit by the Vermont-based company says the films would likely cause “confusion, mistake or deception” regarding the company's trademarks. It says some of the X-rated names are similar to its own. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

Supervalu to close 60 stores

Supervalu Inc. said Wednesday that it will close another 60 underperforming stores as it pushes to turn around its struggling business. The grocery store operator, based in Eden Prairie, Minn., said the closures include Albertsons, ACME and Save-A-Lot stores in various states. Most are expected to close by Dec. 1. The company is notifying employees at the targeted stores Wednesday, but did not say how many would be affected. CEO Wayne Sales, who took the top spot in late July, says the closures reflect the company's commitment to moving “with a greater sense of urgency to reduce costs and improve shareholder value.” In June the company said its first-quarter profit fell by nearly half. It suspended its dividend and said it was reviewing its options with financial advisers, a process that typically includes the possibility of selling the company.
