Scholarship contest setBridgestone Americas is accepting entries for a college scholarship contest. Drivers nationwide ages 16 to 21 can compete by creating a video on the topic of auto safety or automotive environmentalism. The top 10 videos will be posted on YouTube, MySpace and Facebook for the public to vote for their favorite. The three student producers with the most votes will each be awarded a $5,000 scholarship and a set of Bridgestone tires. The video also willbe aired as a public service announcement. Nutro recalls dry cat foodFRANKLIN, Tenn. — Nutro Products is announcing a voluntary recall of dry cat foods because a production error led to incorrect levels of zinc and potassium in the food. The Franklin-based company is recalling products in the U.S. and 10 other countries that had "best if used by dates” between May 12, 2010, and Aug. 22, 2010. Those who bought items affected by the recall should return them to the retailer. The production error was made by a U.S.-based premix supplier. The recall does not involve Nutro dog food products, wet cat food, or pet treats.
Bratz owner seeks appealLOS ANGELES — MGA Entertainment Inc. has asked a federal appeals court to halt the transfer of its Bratz line of dolls to Mattel Inc. while it appeals a judge’s ruling. In an emergency motion filed Tuesday, MGA contends a court order to hand over trade secrets and its most popular product to its biggest rival before an appeal is reviewed would be "devastating and irreversible.” A Mattel spokeswoman said the company would not offer comment.
