Mainly snow will continue over much of central and northern Oklahoma through the morning hours, with the snow heavy at times in northern Oklahoma. From western north Texas into east central Oklahoma a rain/snow mix is expected with mainly rain farther south.

The wintry precipitation will continue into the afternoon before gradually tapering off

from the southwest. Heavy snow will remain possible in north central Oklahoma during the afternoon.

A winter storm warning remains in effect until 6 pm cst this
evening for northern and parts of central Oklahoma.

* Main impact: Widespread snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are
  expected by this afternoon across northern and parts of central
  Oklahoma… generally north of Interstate 40. even higher
  totals…ranging from 6 to 10 inches…will be possible over far
  northern Oklahoma around Alva…Fairview…Cherokee… Enid and
  Ponca City.

* Other impacts: Roads will become slick and hazardous. avoid
  travel if at all possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

Avoid travel. the snow will be very heavy at times across
northern Oklahoma which will cause road conditions to deteriorate
very quickly. monitor weather forecasts and information.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 9 am CST this
morning for parts of southwest Oklahoma and western north Texas.

* Main impact: Freezing drizzle… light freezing rain… and
  possibly sleet will affect parts of southwest Oklahoma and
  western north Texas through mid-morning. this could result in a
  light glazing of ice resulting in additional slick spots on
  roadways.

* Other impacts: Roads may become slick and hazardous. Motorists
  should use extra caution.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

Be careful if you have to travel. Even small amounts of ice and
snow can make roads and sidewalks slick and dangerous.

evening for parts of central and southern Oklahoma… and western

* Main impact: Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches will be
  possible over a small portion of western north Texas…up
  through southwest into central Oklahoma…including the cites of
  Altus…Hobart…up to the Oklahoma City metro. The precipitation may
  start as freezing drizzle or light freezing rain before changing
  to snow.

* Another impact: A light glaze of ice will be possible due to
  the freezing rain or freezing drizzle… which could cause some
  slick travel conditions… especially in the arbuckle mountains.

* Other impacts: Roads may become slick and hazardous. Motorists
  should use extra caution.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…
