Dressing as a witch for Halloween this year? Have a tot ready to trick-or-treat as a princess? How about a pumpkin outfit for your dog? These are the most popular costumes this year, according to the National Retail Federation.
The nation’s largest retail trade group surveyed consumers about what they intend to dress up as for Halloween this year. More than 5 million adults plan to dress as a witch and 2.9 million will be a Batman character. For the kiddos, the most popular choices are princess (3.8 million), an animal (2.8 million) and a Batman character (2.5 million.) The most popular pet costume is a pumpkin, followed by hot dog, cat and devil.
Here are the top costumes, released Monday:
For adults: witch, Batman character, vampire, zombie, pirate, action/superhero, Dracula, cat, scary costume/mask.
For children: princess, animal, Batman character, action/superhero, Spider-Man, witch, zombie, Disney princess, Superman, fairy.
For pets: pumpkin, hot dog, cat, devil, witch, Superman, dog, bowties/fancy collar, bee, Batman, vampire, ghost.
