Outdoing Putnam North running back Deji Karim, who rushed for 136 yards and scored four times, including an 88-yard kickoff return, Wolfe carried his team to the second round.

All of that with a bum knee.

"They told me to be ready tonight, Wolfe said. "I was. My offensive line was great. I wanted the ball, and I felt like I got stronger as the game went on.

Putnam North, its season over at 6-5, scored on its opening possession. A 42-yard interception return by Kyler Dawson made it 13-0, and the Panthers scored again on their next possession making it 19-7.

But from there, North struggled. Sophomore quarterback Sam Bradford didn't play the final three quarters, possibly due to injury. The Panthers finished the half punting twice, fumbling once and turning it over on an interception.

Ike got a 68-yard pass from Kyle Thornton to Marcus Henry for a first-quarter TD and scored twice more on Wolfe touchdown runs before the half.
