Oklahoma woman gives thanks for WWII rescue ‘We lost everything, but we got out alive. I’m thankful’
Patty Kelly Stevens, frail from living on about 700 calories a day or less, weaved toward roll call as she had for years to bow before Japanese officers during World War II. Her mother, down to about 80 pounds after surviving off pigweed, walked clumsily beside her.
