Woman stabbed to death in Lawton, Oklahoma; husband arrested

A woman was found stabbed to death in a Lawton motel room Wednesday. Her husband has been arrested.

LAWTON – A woman was stabbed to death Wednesday night, the fourth homicide case of the year, police report.

About 9:15 p.m. Lawton police officers responded to a stabbing at the Budget Inn in the 1400 block of NW Cache Road, room 137. Officers found Herbert Dale Haynes, 51, of Lawton, leaving the room with blood on his hands, clothing and body. He was detained. Officers then found his wife, Irene Haynes, 48, of Lawton, dead in the room, police report.

Herbert Haynes was arrested and taken to the Lawton city jail. A search warrant for the room was obtained, according to a Lawton police news release.

There were several knives found in the room, the release states.

Irene Haynes' body was released to the medical examiner's office and will be taken to Oklahoma City for autopsy.
