The woman contacted law officers, sheriff's spokesman Mark Myers said. She had injuries consistent with an assault, Myers said. He did not release her name.

Paul Rich, 53, was arrested Sunday on complaints of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping, Myers said.

About 8:30 a.m. Sunday, a witness reported seeing a naked, bleeding woman in the 3900 block of N Coltrane Road in Forest Park, east of Interstate 35.

The witness reported seeing a man lunge at the woman with a pair of scissors, then lead her away. Investigators later spoke with Rich and found evidence consistent with an assault, Myers said.

Rich also is being held on a rape complaint in an unrelated incident Jan. 24 in Forest Park, authorities said.

He had not been charged in either case Thursday. His bail is set at $80,000.
