Seven women will be honored for their contributions to the community at the Association for Women in Communications’ 56th Annual Byliner Awards banquet at 6:30 p.m. March 13 at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel. Ret. Maj. Gen. Rita Aragon, secretary of military and veterans affairs, will host the event.
The honorees and their respective award categories are: Business: Sarah Sears, principal and founder of S Design Inc.; child advocacy: Amanda Taylor, news anchor, Griffin Communications/News 9; communications: Karen Wicker, founder and president of Candor Public Relations; community service: Mary Blankenship Pointer, senior vice president of UMB Oklahoma Bank; economic development: Leslie Batchelor, president and cofounder of Center of Economic Development Law; public service: Deby Snodgrass, executive director of Oklahoma Tourism & Recreation Department; and volunteerism: Kathy Williams, executive director and community volunteer.
